30 Years of Interest Rates and the S&P 500
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper evaluating the relationship between interest rates and the S&P 500 index, for the purpose of determining whether the two are connected. Of course we know the stock market grew at its greatest rates and to its highest volumes ever during the decade of the 1990s, while interest rates sank lower than they had been since the 1960s. It is tempting to place a direct link between interest rates and the value of the S&P 500, but that relationship likely will not be supported by further analysis. Bibliography lists 6 sources. Includes 3 tables.

A Liberal Marxist’s View of Internet Gambling
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page
report discusses international Internet gambling in the context
of thinking exercised by a liberal Marxist. The traditional
Marxist viewpoint follows the original thinking of Karl Marx that
all events in human society are determined by economic forces.
Marx’s ultimate goal was to liberate the world from the evil of
acquisitive materialism and lead the human race to a new freedom.
He saw humans as unable to overcome greed. And certainly, greed
plays an important role in gambling. Therefore, a liberal Marxist
is likely to find him/herself in the unusual position of siding
with ultra-conservatives and the religious right regarding
international Internet gambling. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Adam Smith's Theory of Value
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages in length. This research
paper delves into the conflict of Adam Smith's Theory of Value.
When Adam Smith set forth his own Theory of Value it was vastly
different from the idealistic view of his forebears. The term
"value", in Smith's theory, corresponds largely to what is
usually termed "use-value" - the value-in-use of some good.
Within this paper we find that this treatment as well does not
always advance a theory that is in all ways sound. Bibliography
lists 12 sources.
