American Artists/Morse and Mount
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page research paper that examines the work of American artists Samuel F.B. Morse and William Sidney Mount, who were contemporaries, but who took very different stances in regards to American art. The writer argues that an examination of Morse's "Gallery of the Louvre" (1832-33) and Mount's "The Painter's Triumph (1838) clearly demonstrates their differing pedagogical views. Ancient Greek Art
[ send me this paper ]
For many years, the aesthetic interpretation of art was the only accepted interpretation. Then Alex Potts wrote a book on Winckelmann that proposed that art was more than aesthetics, that art included psychological, political and other aspirations. The process became on of finding embodied meanings within art that had otherwise been forgotten. The most shocking of these interpretations by Wincklemann showed that Greek art, once considered to be universalistic in nature, responded to several other measures of great art as posited by the ancient Greeks about ancient Greek Art. Therefore, the concept that is new, should not be new that Ancient Greek art offers a development to include the range of techne, or techniques that contributed to the finely chiseled Greek art with which we are familiar. 5 works cited. jvGreekA.rtf

Andy Kaufman -- A Phenomenon of Sociological Comment
[ send me this paper ]
This 6
page report discusses the comic actor Andy Kaufman (1949-1984).
People who are aware of Andy Kaufman appear to have one of two
attitudes about him -- they love him, thought him to be a comic
genius, and are certain he was greatly under-estimated. The
other attitude is that Kaufman was tiresome, a mediocre talent,
and are certain he was greatly over-estimated. Regardless of
personal likes or dislikes, one can see that Kaufman always
presented his commentary on contemporary life. Whether the
audience liked or agreed with it was not his concern.
Bibliography lists 4 sources.
