This 5 page report discusses the historical, political, and social development of Asian American studies at the university and college level. As with virtually any academic pursuit, the world of Asian American studies has developed, changed, redefined itself and continued to move forward as its own unique, educational discipline. The movement supporting ethnic and women's studies bean in the late 1960s as university people -- students, faculty, and staff, began to recognize that university curricula generally did not consider or appropriately respond to the diversity of American society, especially racial minorities, women, and the working class.
